Obituary for Sandra Faye "Sandy" Halderson (Halderson)

Sandra Faye "Sandy" Halderson (Halderson)
Sandra F. Halderson, 75, of Onalaska, died on Monday, January 23, 2017 at Bluffview Memory Care in Holmen. She was born to Everett and Edith (Bowles) Halderson, on June 7, 1941 in Crystal Valley, Rural Galesville, WI. Sandy was raised along with 8 brothers and sisters on the family farm. She was very active in her high school; serving as class president, and then went on to get her RN degree in nursing from Viterbo University. Sandy’s family was her devotion and joy. She would often say how lucky she was to have such a wonderful family and remind us when we had not had a family get together for a while.

Sandy was a devoted member of the North Presbyterian Church where she found great joy in being a Deacon and serving others. Her guide in life became the friend she found in Pastor Scott Skogen as Sandy would beam at the mention of his name or the sight of his face. It was evident that Sandy’s compassion for others was great, Sandy was a nurse at Gundersen/Lutheran for many years until she retired and went on to provide in-home health care.

Sandy is survived by her 4 children: Lisa Morris of Holmen WI, Christine (Steve) Hagen of Caledonia, MN, Stephan (Tina Wuensch) Morris of Trempealeau, WI, and Elizabeth “Betsy” Lewandowski of Muskego, WI; 6 grandchildren: Amy (Jeremy) McMillian, Jessica (Josiah) Kemp, Cody Morris, Miranda Johnson, Ryan Lewandowski, and Asher Lewandowski; 7 siblings: Louis Halderson, James (Norma) Halderson, Norman (Judy) Halderson, Wendell (Carol) Halderson, Isabell Braun, Doris (Ernie) Lovell, and Helen (Bill) Byrne.
Sandy is preceded in passing by her parents, brother and sister-in-law Robert (Dorothy) Vance, sister-in-law Rita Halderson and brother-in-laws Carl Braun and Bucky Terpening.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care the staff at Bluffview Memory Care and Gundersen Hospice provided for Sandy.

Thank you, God, for blessing all our lives with Sandy’s gentle soul; her strength, humility, and courage – she will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2017 at the North Presbyterian Church, 1327 N. Salem Rd., La Crosse, Wi. The Rev Scott Skogen will officiate. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Rural Galesville. Visitation at the church on Friday from 12:00 noon until the time of the service.
