Obituary for Elaine Odessa Nelsestuen

Elaine Odessa  Nelsestuen
Elaine O. Nelsestuen, 96, of Ettrick, passed away peacefully on March
25, 2017 at the Quiet Oaks Hospice House in St. Augusta, MN. She was
born on September 9, 1920 in Ettrick, WI to Otto and Ella (Johnson)
Thompson. She married Walter Nelsestuen on December 7, 1938 in
Ettrick, WI. Elaine loved the outdoors especially working in her
vegetable and flower gardens. Elaine started her new geraniums each
year using clippings from her own beautiful plants. She enjoyed quilting
with the church ladies, and embroidering, especially dish towels for
family members. She enjoyed baking and making her delicious lefse.
Both Elaine and Walter enjoyed playing 500 with family and friends.
Elaine was a member of the Living Hope Lutheran Church and the
Women of the ELCA.

Elaine is survived by her two children: Nancy (Frank) Holy of St. Cloud,
Minnesota and Nolan (Gail) Nelsestuen of Eau Claire, WI; four
grandchildren Tami (Greg) Seelen and Teri (Ron) Thielen both of St.
Cloud, Minnesota, Tracy Holy of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Ryan
(Mila) Nelsestuen of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; 5 greatgrandchildren:
Jon, Emily, and Chris Seelen and Josh and Megan
Thielen; two great-great-grandchildren Keenan Seelen and Seth Seelen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother Aldred
and sister Shelby.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on March 30, 2017 at the
Living Hope Lutheran Church in Ettrick, WI. The Rev. Kary Jonas will
officiate. Burial will follow in the French Creek Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the
service.
