Holmen: Terry Lee Gilbertson, 57, passed away Monday, December 1, 2014 at his home.

He was born March 1, 1957 to Larry and Viola (Hoff) Gilbertson. Terry lived the life of a thrill-seeker surrounded by his family. As a young man, Terry enjoyed SCUBA diving, flying, water skiing, snow skiing and any other adventure that came his way. He played in the band The Ovations with his mother and father for 18 years and owned Midwest Auto Sales. Terry was very talented and exceled artistically in many areas. More recently Terry enjoyed bowling and playing cards.

Terry married Erin Farrell in 1979. Together they have one son, Jesse.

Honoring the tradition set by his mother, everyone gathers at Terry’s house the first Wednesday of the month to celebrate being a family. This month the family will gather to say their final goodbyes to Terry.

Terry is survived by his son, Jesse (Rachel) Gilbertson and granddaughter, Elena; Erin Gilbertson; his sister Cindy (Jeff) Ammerman; niece and nephews Penny Ammerman, Dustin (Jodi) Ammerman and Kyle Ammerman; great-nieces and nephew Ella and Clare Ammerman-Bann and Brynlee and Luke Ammerman. Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Viola Gilbertson.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 3rd at The Fossum Funeral Home, 510 2nd Avenue South, Onalaska. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. A private committal service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank everyone who showed Terry kindness and understanding after his accident on January 31st, 1990.
