Obituary for Stella Gladys Bryhn (Swenson)
Stella G. Bryhn, 100 of Ettrick, WI died on Saturday, September 5, 2020, at the Grand View Care Center in Blair, WI. She was born on December 25, 1919 in Ettrick, WI to John S. and Julia (Gilboe) Swenson. Stella, attended the South Beaver Creek Elementary School. She was baptized on March 14, 1920 in South Beaver Creek Lutheran Church by Pastor C.B. Bestul. On October 24, 1934 Stella was Confirmed by Pastor John Olsen also at South Beaver Creek Lutheran Church. On July 27, 1938 Stella married Arthur R. Bryhn in the French Creek Lutheran Church Parsonage.
Stella was a member of the WELCA, she enjoyed her family, farm life, crafts, and babysitting.
Stella is survived by her children: Karen (James Cornwell) Knutson of La Crosse, Marla Onsrud of Ettrick, Steven (Vicki) Bryhn of Rochester, MN, and Julie (David) Hanssen of West Salem; 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; she is also survived by several step-grandchildren; Daughter-in-laws Shirley Bryhn and Geneva Bryhn; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband on October 13, 1990; 3 sons Myron, Arvid and an infant son Larry; and a grandson Anthony Knutson. She was also preceded in death by her siblings Arthur, Helen, Mildred, Raymond and Lester; 2 sons-in-law Eugene Knutson and Henry Onsrud.
Friends may call at the South Beaver Creek Lutheran Church on Saturday, September 12, 2020, from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. Funeral services will be held in the church yard at 2:00 pm. The Rev. John Ashland will officiate. Social distancing, and the wearing of masks are requested during the visitation. Please bring your lawn chairs for the service. In Lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the donors choice.
