Lola H. Chalsma, 94, of Onalaska, died on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Gundersen Health Systems in La Crosse. She was born on September 21, 1922 on the family farm in Houston, MN to Louis and Myrtle (Northrup) Vix. She married Fred H. Miller, he preceded her in death in December of 1948. She then married LeRoy Chalsma in 1949.

Lola and her husband LeRoy owned and operated the Home Café in West Salem for many years. Following the sale of the restaurant Lola worked for several area nursing homes including Bethany St. Joseph Care Center where she worked as a housekeeper and cook until her retirement. Following her retirement, Lola spent her free time Dancing, Cooking (everything was from scratch), camping and traveling. Her favorite destinations were Las Vegas and Arizona.

Lola is survived by her 5 children: Morris (Judy) Miller of Onalaska, Sharon (Ray) Weikinger of Toledo, Ohio, Linda (Arnie) Johnson of Gillette Wyoming, Karen (Mark) Grasby of Pleasant Garden, North Carolina and Pennelope Harr of La Crosse; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 3 Great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Debbie; her two Husbands; all 10 of her brothers and sisters; and her special friend Clarence Ronnenberg.

Please Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at the Fossum Funeral and Cremation Service in Onalaska. The Rev. William Bader will officiate. Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Barre Mills, WI. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

The family wishes to thank the Onalaska Care Center and Gundersen Health Systems for the excellent care Lola received.
