Obituary for John J. Olson

John J.  Olson
John J. Olson, 91, died on Monday December 14, 2015 at Gundersen Health Systems in La Crosse. He was born on March 4, 1924 in Colfax, Wi to John and Kathryn (Wiseman) Olson. He grew up in New Auburn, WI before enlisting in the US Army Air Corp. during WW II. His tour of duty in the Army took him to many places including India and Tinian Island. Following his return to the states he settled in Whitehall, WI where he met and married Kathrine Schultz on January 1, 1951. John and Katherine moved to Onalaska and John worked for the Trane Company retiring after 38 years.

John is survived by his wife Katherine of Onalaska, 5 children David of Onalaska, Susan Olson of St Paul MN, Kari Olson of Goodland, MN, Krista Wolfe of Blaine, MN and Barbara Czaplewski of Blaine, MN. 5 grandchildren: Christine Olson, Leah Olson, Katie Olson, Mike Czaplewski, and Brittany Czaplewski. 5 great-grandchildren: William Booker, Christopher Olson, Mathew Olson, Madison Czaplewski and Hunter Garrick. John was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Daniel; 4 brothers and 4 sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 18, 2015 from the First Lutheran Church in Onalaska. The Rev. Jason Stanton will officiate. Burial with Military Honors by the Hutchins Stendahl American Legion Post 191 will follow in the Lincoln Cemetery in Whitehall, WI. Friends may call on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Fossum Funeral and Cremation Service of Onalaska and again at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
